Appalachian Trail

Approximately 2,200 miles in length, the AT traverses almost the entire East coast stretching from Georgia to Maine. With a total elevation gain of over 464,000', equivalent of climbing Mt. Everest 16 times, the AT is not to be underestimated! In most sections (except the Smokys), backpackers have the option to stay in a shelter, tent/hammock camp or stay in one of the many towns the trail crosses.
