COVID-19

Operational Guidelines

To balance the safety of our clients, staff, and the community of the areas we visit during our events, we have established the following procedures for clients and staff PRIOR TO, DURING TRAVEL, and WHILE ATTENDING AN EVENT with True North Expeditions Inc.

  1. Clients agree to provide body temperature readings prior to and during the event as required in our “PRE-EVENT” COVID 19 policy.

  2. Clients agree to complete the exposure to COVID 19 questionnaire prior to attending an event.

  3. Clients agree to abide by all policies set forth in our “DURING EVENT” COVID-19 policy.  If you choose to ride with us to an event, we will ask that you use hand sanitizer prior to entering the van. Clients will be required to wear a mask during travel. We will provide masks to those that request one.

  4. Clients will be required to have a mask accessible at all times.

  5. Clients will be required to wear masks during stops for restroom breaks when required by the community we are traveling through. We also ask that clients reduce their time inside buildings for restroom breaks and to keep interactions with people outside of our group to a minimum and distance themself when possible. Clients and staff shall also maintain a 6’ distance from other people during rest stops.

  6. Clients will be encouraged and reminded to maintain their personal hygiene, and TNE staff will encourage hand sanitization and handwashing with soap and water when available.

  7. Clients agree to abide by all local, state, federal, and outside outfitter rules and regulations regarding COVID 19, this includes all business requirements for social distancing, hand washing/cleaning, and the number of occupants allowed inside a building. Federal lands require masks when distancing is not possible outside as well as indoors.

  8. The van is treated with Permasafe for your protection. For more information, you can visit the following website or link https://permasafe.com/how-it-works/. Additionally, the van will be wiped down with disinfectant on all high-touch surfaces during each stop, after arriving at our destination, and prior to embarking to return home from the event.

  9. If a client does not feel comfortable carpooling and wants to drive themself, they will be given a refund of 5% of the total event cost (ticket price paid during registration). This does not apply to any group of people not living in the same residence and the discount only applies to the driver of the vehicle.

  10. While outdoors, and when possible clients and staff will maintain a distance of at least 6’. We realize this is not a possibility during transport, but we encourage clients to maintain this distance when participating in outdoor events as well as when setting up tents, etc.

  11. Clients will not be allowed to share gear including maps, phones, cameras, stoves, food storage devices, luggage, or toiletry kits, food, or eating utensils. Family members or clients residing in the same home will be allowed to share a tent.

  12. Clients shall place tents at least 6’ apart from each other.

  13. Clients are required to inform a staff member if they feel they are becoming sick, or are experiencing any of the symptoms originally asked in the PRE-EVENT questionnaire. In the event a client or TNE staff member exhibits symptoms of COVID-19, they will be required to maintain a greater distance, but must still remain in voice contact with, the rest of the group. They will be monitored by another guide in the group. Temperatures and symptoms shall be documented by the lead guide.

  14. In the event that a client or  TNE staff member needs to be evacuated from the area, an alternate means of travel will be made for them. Staff will arrange transportation for the client or staff member and if the situation becomes dire, we may be required to contact local healthcare, authorities, or potentially the US Coast Guard in some situations.

While we make every attempt possible to keep our distance and recreate responsibly, we understand that this is not always possible. Ultimately it is up to each client to determine if they are willing to participate in our events.

In compliance with CDC recommendations, we will require all passengers to wear masks when traveling in our company van. Additionally, masks will be required to be worn when indoors, and outdoors when you are not able to maintain social distancing of 6 feet from others.

You can view the CDC’s recommendations on mask usage here: https://www.cdc.gov/.../cloth-face-cover-guidance.html
