About The Event

This course is designed for inexperienced or new backpackers. The boot camp combines hiking and camping in a backcountry setting. Our primary goal is to help members become self sufficient and familiar with their gear and gain the skills required to be safe while hiking.

This event will involve hiking a total of approximately 10 miles over 2 days. The terrain where we will be hiking contains steep hills, ravines, drop offs, ledges, unstable and rocky terrain, wooden crossings, and can be strenuous at times. The trails may also be wet, slippery, muddy, and rocky. Drinking water will be obtained and filtered from area creeks or will be provided by event hosts.

Gear:

Members are responsible for obtaining their own gear or gear rental can be provided for an additional cost.

-Leave no Trace Principles

-Foot care and Hygiene on the trail

Gear rental is available for an extra fee and includes the following:

Backpack

1 person tent

Sleeping bag

3.25″ thick sleeping pad

Single burner camp stove

Katadyne or Sawyer Water filter pump

Set of GSI cookware

Trowel

    This reservation for 1 person with gear rental. We will contact you with a list of additional required gear prior to the start of the trip. Additional $50 deposit required for gear rental. Gear will be provided for a maximum of 3 days. Client is responsible for contacting us to determine proper backpack size. Gear Rental includes: -Backpack -2 person tent -Sleeping bag -sleeping pad -UL pillow -camp stove -water filter -sit pad -trekking poles -headlamp -trowel
