This course is designed for the inexperienced backpacker that has minimal to no outdoor experience. Our goal is to ensure you gain the knowledge and confidence you need to backpack on your own.

About The Event
This course is designed for inexperienced or new backpackers. The boot camp combines hiking and camping in a backcountry setting. Our primary goal is to help members become self sufficient and familiar with their gear and gain the skills required to be safe while hiking.
This event will involve hiking a total of approximately 10-14 miles over 2 days. The terrain where we will be hiking contains steep hills, ravines, drop offs, ledges, unstable and rocky terrain, wooden crossings, and can be strenuous at times. The trails may also be wet, slippery, muddy, and rocky. Drinking water will be obtained and filtered from area creeks or will be provided by event hosts.
Gear:
Members are responsible for obtaining their own gear or gear rental can be provided for an additional cost.

Gear rental is available for an extra fee and includes the following:
Backpack
1 person tent
Sleeping bag
3.25″ thick sleeping pad
Single burner camp stove
Katadyne or Sawyer Water filter pump
Set of GSI cookware
Trowel
Course instruction and backpacking will take place June 2-3, 2018. Instructors will arrive June 1, anyone attending the course is invited to arrive Friday June 1 to camp out. If you do not wish to camp out on Friday, we will meet Saturday morning at 8 am. More information will be sent out prior to the event.
