Time & Location
About The Event
Established in 1938 the Manistee River Forest is located in northwest lower Michigan. Formerly a logging area, the Manistee forest is covered in deep, thick forests edged with sand bluffs that overlook the river on the east side. Some of the most beautiful campsites you'll see in the Midwest can be found here. 2 trails skirt the Manistee River, the MRT and part of the NCT.
Over the course of 2.5 days, hikers will have to the option to hike as a group or on their own. A meeting point will be established for pick up on Sunday for those that want to hike their own hike independently from the rest of the group.
More advanced backpackers can challenge themselves to a 30+ mile NCT section/looped hike by adding extra mileage by way of the NCT. Shuttling will be available.
