Mother’s Day Weekend-Maquoketa Cave SP & Galena, IL

Event Details

We will depart the Chicagoland area on Saturday, May 11 at approximately 7 am. After arriving @ Maquoketa Caves State Park, we will explore the numerous caves in the area. The park sits on 111 acres of land and contains more caves than any other state park in Iowa! Trail systems link the caves and rock formations/overlooks while providing a scenic hiking experience.

After exploring the parks we will have dinner and stay at a local hotel overnight—your choice of Single and Double occupancy lodging accommodations.

Sunday morning, after breakfast, we will head to Galena, IL. Galena is known for its history, small shops, historic buildings (including the Dowling House and Grants Home), and great food options! We will spend approximately 5 hours here before heading back to the Chicagoland area, but not before you get your fill of shopping, having lunch, and doing some good old people-watching!

This trip has a little bit of everything built into celebrating Mother’s Day with like-minded people who enjoy seeing new sights, being social, good food, and even better company!

Transportation is included from Huntley, IL, as are snacks and beverages/water. Bring a book,  crochet, or sit back, relax, and socialize in our 15-passenger van while our guides do all the driving. Lodging is also included on Saturday. Meals and other snacks are your responsibility.

Tickets

We have a few ticket options available, including single and double occupancy.

Admission-Double Occupancy-$330. This includes transportation, (pick up if it is along our predetermined route), snacks/beverages during transportation, shared lodging (2 queen beds), and a special “Mother’s Day” confectionary surprise from a local chocolatier.

Admission based on Single Occupancy-$415. This includes transportation, (pick up if it is along our predetermined route), snacks/beverages during transportation, private lodging (2 queen beds or 1 king bed), and a special “Mother’s Day” confectionary surprise from a local chocolatier.

Safety

All True North Expeditions staff are certified in First Aid/CPR and every one of our events is led by a guide with a background in emergency medicine and a certified Wilderness First Aid instructor. Guides are experienced in wilderness and outdoor travel and are equipped with GPS and satellite phones during every portion of this event.

We ask that guests refrain from bringing alcohol, illegal drugs, or weapons of any kind (excluding a pocket knife for use on the trail).

Cancellation Policy

No refunds will be issued for cancellations 30 days or less from the event date. All other cancellations are subject to a 50% service fee. Refunds will be issued back to the original payment method. Please allow 5-7 business days for processing, we will notify you when the refund has been issued.
