About The Event

If y Event Info

"Undisturbed, wooded shorelines and islands offer the opportunity to boat, camp, fish, and enjoy the outdoors in wild and rugged northern Wisconsin. Spread across 40,000 acres in Iron County, the Turtle-Flambeau Scenic Waters Area offers 66 remote campsites accessible by water only." -Wisconsin DNR

We can't think of a better way to spend an extended weekend. Once we visited Turtle-Flambeau in 2019 on a personal trip, we knew we would be back. I distinctly remember being in the middle of the flowage, looking across the bow of my kayak and seeing 2 deer wading through the water, walk up onto a small island, and then dip back into the water. Something I have never witnessed before in such a large body of water!

The flowage measures over 12,000 acres and is home to unique wetland patterns and plant species. This body of water is home to several species of sport and game fish, including Musky, Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye and Sturgeon

After paddling in on Thursday we will make our way to our already reserved group camp site. We will spend the next 3 days exploring the area, with the option to break up into smaller groups if desired. Once we are at the campsite you can make the trip your own, relax at the campsite, explore on your own, or do a little fishing if you want. Information on a fishing license can be found here.
