About The Event

Spend the week exploring the Great Smoky Mountains, Piegon Forge and Gatlinburg with us! After arriving in Gatlinburg, the week will be filled with numerous activites, including white water rafting, sightseeing, shopping, numerous day hikes including day hikes to waterfalls-want to create your own adventure when we arrive? Spend a day or two exploring on your own. Based on availablity, the True North staff can accomdate your individual or group requests to create your own itinerary after we arrive. Feel like sleeping in and sightseeing/shooping on your own? No problem, we will be spending a majority of the time at the Appy Lodge in Gatlinburg, which is located within walking distance of all the attractions Gatlinburg has to offer. Below is a list of the daily activities:

Day 1-Depart the Midwest. Arrive in Piegon Forge, TN. Overnight stay in a local hotel. Snacks and drinks will be provided on the way down. We will stop for meals and bath breaks as needed.

Day 2-Hike up to Mt Leconte with an overnight stay at the lodge. All meals will be provided. (option for Day 2 will be lodging at the Appy Lodge in Gatlinburg and a day hike to one or more waterfalls, including Laurel Falls We are currently working on reserving enough lodging for our group with the Le Conte Lodge).

Day 3-Depart Gatlinburg early and head to Cades Cove. We will return that afternoon to sightsee Gatlinburg, including a visit to Anakeesta. Stay at the Appy Lodge in Gatlinburg. Meals will be on your own.

Day 4-Depart early and head to the Oconaluftee Visitor Center, stopping at Clingmans Dome (the hightest point on the Appalachian Trail). Day hikes near Gatlinburg as time allows. Stay at the Appy Lodge in Gatlinburg. Meals will be on your own.

Day 5-Whitewater rafting on the Piegon River. Return to Gatlinburg for sightseeing/shopping.

Day 6-Depart early to Day hikes to Rainbow (5.5 miles rt) and Grotto Falls (2.6 miles rt), or option to visit Piegon Forge/sightsee. Stay at the Appy Lodge in Gatlinburg. Meals will be on your own.

Day 7- Depart for the Midwest.

 

Meals

All meals will be your responsibility. We will provided light beverages and snacks on the drive down.

Gear

Only gear needed for day hikes, as well as a change of clothes, overnight and toiletry kit will be needed for the stay at Mt Leconte. We suggest bringing a pair of trail runners or hiking boots.

 Cost

Total ticket price is $1075 and is based on double occupany and includes the following:

  • Round trip transportation from a predetermined location in the Midwest. 
  • 6 nights lodging in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN. 
  • Overnight stay at Mt Leconte
  • 2 hour Whitewater rafting tour
  • Numerous day hikes, visit to Clingman's Dome, Oconaluftee Visitor Center and Anakeesta
  • Transporation as needed while in Tennessee if sightseeing individually. 

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations less than 7 days from the date of the event will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made more than 7 days prior to the end will receive a full refund, minus a 5% service fee. Refund will be issued in the form of a check. Please allow 5-7 business days for processing, we will notify you when the refund has been issued. Additional information will be emailed to you after registering. 

True North Expeditions, Inc. reserves the right to substitute the events listed in the description above in the event of inclement weather, availability or other uncontrollable events.

Tickets

  • GSMNP Tour

    Admission is for 1 person . Client is responsible for their own meals while in Tennessee. All tips are included. If you choose to sightsee and tour on your own, you will be required to cover the cost of those tickets.
