Looking for Growth and Change?

Believe it or not, those of us that work for True North Expeditions, were not always "expert" outdoors men and women. For almost all of us, we didnt find the outdoors until we were well into the adult phase of our lives. We all had a moment of realziation that we wanted to get outdoors and experience something different. Something different from the daily grind that we we used to. We wanted to push ourselves into something that felt different.

Do you ever look at an old picture of yourself and think, "dang, I did not look happy back then."

While I cant speak for everyone with our company, I can tell you that when I found the outdoors I was going through major life changes.....in my 40's. I was uncomfortable in a lot of ways, but mostly with myself. Once I found the outdoors, I slowly built up my confidence and found out a lot about myself, who I was and who I wanted to be. To this day I would say I'm still a work in progress. The minute I stop thinking about myself in that way, I know I will end up being the old, unhappy me.

Getting outdoors has a lot of benefits (mentally, physically, spiritually), most of us know that already. We're hoping to post some blogs about that later in the year. What I can tell you is that after running this company for going on 6 seasons now, I have personally seen the benfits the outdoors has on people. Seeing the pride people take in themselves after just one event is overwhelming. Seeing people return to us season after season, or after a few years, is not only humbling, but encourging. We (I) love hearing all the stories about the places they have been, or about the friends they have made due to spending time outdoors. I have to admit that when I started this company back in 2017 I thought I was just going to get people outdoors and help them plan trips. Little did I know True North would grow as much as it has, or that I would develope the friendships, experiences, and memories that I have along the way. I didnt know the potentil the outdoors had to allow me to Grow and Change as a person.
